Bangkok, Thailand - 23 April 2025 - The Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC), led by Commissioner Mr. Kimsann Srun, and Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC), led by Acting Secretary General Mr. Trairat Viriyasirikul, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation and share best practices in tackling telecom challenges.

The MoU focuses on key areas like telecom regulation, 5G, emerging technologies, international mobile roaming, and scam prevention. It includes knowledge exchange, joint trainings, seminars, and study visits to foster inclusive regulatory environments.

Following the signing, a bilateral meeting themed “Enhancing Security in Telecommunication Service Along Thailand-Cambodia Common Border” was held, chaired by NBTC’s Deputy Secretary General Mr. Sutisak Tantayotin and co-chaired by Mr. Kimsann Srun. Discussions covered telecom issues such as cybercrimes (mobile fraud, identity theft, online scams, illegal content), high-tech crimes (phishing, bank impersonation, unauthorized equipment), and illegal SIM card distribution along borders. Both sides explored technical and regulatory solutions.

The parties committed to ongoing cooperation through technical dialogues, capacity building, joint inspections, operations, and partnerships with private sectors and international bodies, aiming for a secure telecom ecosystem to drive sustainable development and economic growth in both nations.
