Announcement on The Failure of Internet Service Providers to Diligently Fulfill Their Obligations in Restoring and Providing Quality and Timely Internet Services to Users

Recently, the Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC) has observed that users have complained about disruptions or disconnections of internet services caused by fiber optic cable cut and the failure of some internet service providers to diligently fulfill their obligations in restoring and providing quality and timely internet services to users.

The TRC wishes to inform the public that fiber optic cable networks are constructed and maintained by telecommunications cable network infrastructure operators (referred to as network operators). In the event of a fiber optic cable cut, internet service providers must collaborate with network operators to repair or conduct maintenance on the affected fiber optic cable. All repairs or maintenance of fiber optic cable do not require prior authorization from the TRC. Network operators are required to notify the TRC through an online system and can immediately repair the affected optic cables without delay.

The TRC urges the public to contact the TRC via telephone at 6789 during business hours, send an email to info@trc.gov.kh , or reach out through the Facebook page “និយ័តករទូរគមនាគមន៍កម្ពុជា - Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia” for further inquiries or to report issues mentioned above. This will enable the TRC to take timely measures to protect the interests of users.
